Wow! Can you believe it? I have already collected my first moon a couple of weeks ago! how time flies!!
Anyway, I am fortunate that I have an older brother and sister to forewarn me, so I was pretty much prepared for this so-called ‘full-moon’ celebration. My summary? A full-moon celebration is an event for (1) adults to happily indulge and feast on food that the celebrated baby CANNOT eat; and (2) for adults to carry, pose for photograph and pass the baby like ‘passing the baton’…
Ah well….what we babies do to make adults happy…hee!
So, I have conveniently split up my full moon blog to two parts. The first part in today’s blog will highlight some of the food stuff involved in my full moon celebration..
Apparently, there is this Chinese tradition for the parents of the celebrated baby to distribute some full-moon delicacies to relatives, friends, etc. to ‘announce’ of my moony milestone.
In KL, Papa had already purchased some sets of the the traditional ‘ang ku’ and marble cake from Uniq Full Moon to be distributed to Mama’s office. The good thing about Uniq is that they area specialised Full-Moon shop and all their food is also halal, which makes the distribution much easier to Muslim friends.

Papa decided to be a little different for his office-mates and went out and bought some cupcakes from Qisdansyia Cupcakes. I especially liked the “1 Moon” pattern. Haha. Trust Papa to design in riddles..:-P

Then, there was also our Parish gathering the other day, where Papa decided to buy some mini-cupcakes from My Apple Kitchen, who whipped up (so I heard…sigh) some pretty delicious and sweet stuff which was very well-received by everyone. I also heard all the kids, including Koko Collin became quite hyper after eating it too…hmmmm..

Meanwhile, back home in Sitiawan, Mama had gotten the traditional ang koos, roast pork and red eggs and distributed them to the neighbours and relatives already. They all LOOK really tasty I must say. No wonder Jiejie Caitlynn seem to love meat so much…

Anyway, in Ipoh, Ah Ma managed to contact MoMo Cafe to make this specialty curry chicken with yellow rice thingy. The package also came with the red eggs and ang koos. I heard that it is no longer very easy to find people or shops who make this yellow rice with curry chicken stuff (especially in Ipoh), so Papa and Mama were quite relieved to have found this shop. From the looks (and sounds too) of it, it is really yummy too!

These special packs were distributed to all the relatives who came and celebrated my full moon during a simple lunch session last weekend in Palace Restaurant, Hotel Excelsior Ipoh.
Oh yes, Joyce Kor-Kor also displayed her bakery skills and made me some fancy, delicious looking cupcakes too! MMmmmmmmm..can open shop already…:-D

Methinks the lovelier the cupcakes are, the less people are eating them…hmmm…what do you think?
So back to the lunch celebration, what else did they do there besides eating? Ahhh….that’s where part 2 of My Full Moon Diaries continues..
REMINDER NOTE: I didn’t get to eat ANY of the stuff shown above…*sulks*
