My Baptism Solo

10 April 2011 has now been officially etched as another milestone in my life. Together with Koko Collin, we took a bold step of faith and got ourselves baptised. Sure, we may still be too young to comprehend much, so our ‘infant’ baptism is somewhat of a sign or pledge by Papa and Mama to dedicate us to God and their commitment to bring us up in the ways of our Lord. It was extra joy for us when Ah Kong and Ah Ma decided to make a trip down to KL to lend their support to this special occasion too. :-)

It was also the first baptism performed by Rev Yew Nieng Song since he was posted to our church this year so there certainly was some added drama. Hee! Firstly, he introduced us to the set of white-coloured choir-robe like frocks and pull-overs. I suppose they signify purity I think, but I’m just glad to put it on so my lovely shirt wouldn’t get wet..hee!

Koko Collin has also apparently grown too big to put his arms through the toddler-sized frocks so he had to put on a slightly bigger adult/teen sized one. The robe didn’t seem to slow him down one bit as he was in his usual cheeky jumpy self. Sigh.

See how calm and behaved Koko Collin looks here..

Of course, the real drama of the morning occurred right at the altar when Rev Yew picked me up to perform the baptism. Not used to ‘strangers’ carrying me for the first time, I started my baptism solo….My first showcase to the church was my amazing kicking abilities…

football kicking practice comes in handy….

Then, my wailing and crying echoed and rocked the entire sanctuary! I guess it was just my way of announcing to the world that I have arrived….hee. Many ‘supporting’ church uncles an aunties kept talking about my magnificent ‘voice’ that morning too….sigh.

Ok pastor…you can give me a kiss after enduring all my cryings..:-p

Koko Collin’s baptism proceeded with less drama as he calmly allowed Rev Yew to perform the ceremony. I was so amazed! Was that my brother? Wow. It was even more astounding if you had seen how Koko Collin was so engrossed with flipping the hymnals, sliding back and forth near the altar, jumping here and there, etc. just right before the baptism!

Of course, after that Koko Collin showed how much of a hygiene freak he can be by wiping his hands on the towel a couple of times…

have to make sure the hands are dry…:-p

…and then he proceeded to waltz his way into the centre of the altar that resulted in Rev Yew commenting in jest..”Now, you can only come inside when you become a pastor, ok?” Sigh. Boys will be boys, I guess.

Anyway, here’s a video recap of our baptism which took place in KLWMC on 10 Apr 2011. Note of thanks to Koko Namaan who handled the camera:

Of Jesus and Chocolates

The following dialogue took place right before my bedtime…

Mama: Collin, it’s time for bed.

Me: OK.

Mama: Have you said your prayers yet?

Me: Not yet, Mama.

Mama: Come, let’s give thanks to Jesus for the day.

Me: Mama, I want to ask Jesus to take away the chocolate first?

Mama: Sorry, Collin….you want to ask Jesus to do what?

Me: I want to ask Jesus to take away the chocolate first.

Mama: You want to ask Jesus to take away the chocolate?

Me: Yes…

Mama: Err…why would you want to ask Jesus to take away the chocolate?

Me: So that my cough will get better…

Mama: OK…

Good Saving Habits

My church recently launched  a Give a Ringgit a Day campaign to raise funds for our new church building that is currently on-going. Now I dunno what a ringgit is but I found the entire activity to be a whole lot of fun with Papa giving me coins to put into my tin.

Over the past month, I have found the following benefits of this activity:

1. Wholesome family activity!

2. Helps improve my motor skills of guiding the coins into that small slit!

3. Encourages my competitive spirit as I woould always race with Koko to see who can put all the coins in first!

4. Knowing I’m playing a role in giving to my new church building!

5. Cultivates my saving habit! :-)

O Christmas Tree…

This year, Christmas is gonna be extra special because we’re going to have a Christmas tree right in our home for the very first time! Hee!

So the other day, Papa and Mama picked out a small little tree (still taller then me though…hmmmph!), got the ornaments, the star and lights and we set out a family activity to put up the tree and decorate it….

Discounting some minor ornaments that had pieces of strings missing, we all had a fantastic time hanging the ornaments, spreading the tree leaves, chewing on the ornaments, bouncing the shiny balls and bells, unwrapping the cute ornament pressies (oops..),  glittered our hands and faces, and finally sitting back and enjoy the lighted up Christmas tree.

Ahhh…the satisfaction of putting up our own Christmas tree is a wonderful memory we’ll never forget!

Unboxing and unfurling the leaves....the bare Christmas tree...

Kicking off the ornament hanging activity!

...whilst making sure Caitlynn doesn't pull the tree down! :-P

hanging more and more ornaments! Wee!

we're almost there!...

With the star at the top and lights that go round and round, it is complete! yay!

time to pose for a shot with Caitlynn! :-D

Light a candle for me…

It has come again. After almost a month of waiting in stress (and cute dresses..), my tongue operation is scheduled for tomorrow morning, around 8 something. My time to face the unknown is going to happen. After the unexpected reprieve of the holiday mix-up by the hospital, I shall have to muster up all the courage I have and continue to hum in my head that Veggie tale song that “God is bigger” than this operation…

Of course, I would greatly appreciate all the prayers and support from everyone! On the positives, I just can’t wait to test out my new and improved yells and screams after the operation! Hee!

scary times ahead - please pray for me!

Sunday School Firsts…

Had my first experience in Sunday School a couple of weeks back when Mama brought me there to observe. You see, age-wise, I still have a few months to go before hitting the big THREE to be officially registered, but the teachers there were kind enough to give me an exception to join in the class.

That day, we learnt all about a young boy named David, who battled and killed a mean giant named Goliath. I vaguely recall Papa reading to me something like that before but making craft about the story itself does help me to appreciate it more. Sorry Papa!

So, at the end of it all, I made (with a lot of Mama’s help) and brought home my first Sunday School craft – ‘figurines’ of David and Goliath. Cool eh?

can you guess which is David and which is Goliath? Hee!

Apart from the craft, I was also given a Sunday School book to take home. The book would eventually be filled with stickers of points for attendance, punctuality, participation, memory verses, etc. These guys in Sunday School really mean business, I tell you. :-P

So, I also brought home my first Bible memory verse (of the week) to learn! And believe you me, Papa and Mama have been like sports coaches spurring me on to learn the verse throughout that week. Papa even put some tune to the verse and sings it to me in the car, before I sleep, when I bathe, etc. to really drill it into my head! He says memorising verses in songs would make it easier. :-)

“For the Lord your God goes before you. He will never leave you.”

Flu Flew…Phew!

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes! I’m already feeling much better today. Still got a bit of cough but I think my fever is gone! (hopefully forever…hehe).

I am able to smile and stand like usual now…:-D

“Hey, Caitlynn…what d’ya say? Tell us what you learnt today?!”

Things I learnt from this harrowing episode:

1. When in early stages of flu, one can still go for the throat swab test….faster and cheaper too. In my case, it was either the full complete test (1 day result) or immediate treatment

2. H1N1 is no longer a pandemic, it’s now an endemic. END does sound more scary than PANDA but in essence it means there is no longer a need to quarantine someone with its symptoms or anyone with contact with the infected. It’s now (jeng jeng jeng) EVERYWHERE… so everyone just needs to practice personal hygiene and go see doctor when sick lor..

3. Tamiflu may sound cute but it is definitely NOT NICE to swallow…

4. Medicines are scary.

5. Papa, Mama and Koko Collin are great to have around, in sickness and in health! Hee!

6. God loves me and He answers prayers! :-D

Unknowing the Unknown

Apparently, I am not the only one in the state of the unknown about my tongue operation. I just found that that the location where my op will be is also UNKNOWN!

Yeah, isn’t that funny? The doctor nor his PA nor anyone else that works in the hospital cannot be sure if it is in Selangor or KL. So since this friday is supposed to be a state holiday for Selangor, we were just informed that the hospital suddenly came under Selangor area and thus would be closed this Friday! Haha…not.

So, Papa and Mama has since rescheduled my D-Day to 24 Sep 2010. Probably it’s a good thing too since I just contracted some cough and fever over last weekend and is only recovering now.

God does work in mysterious ways. Hee!

Facing the Unknown…

Scary moments ahead...

When you have to face the unknown

Of going where you have never gone

Where courage is stocked at a minimum

And uncertainty overflows at a premium

I pray and look to God to provide

Strength, hope and friends by my side

To overcome this scary ordeal

And to quickly recover and heal

This Friday, I’m scheduled to go for a tongue releasing operation in the morning. For a baby, it really is the stuff of horrors. I have completely no idea of the scariness of it – which is pretty, erm, scary! Anyway, I could only read of what happened when Koko Collin went through this similar episode before and I know that many people prayed for him that time and I also believe that God answers prayers!

So, I would appreciate all prayers for this coming Friday as I boldly crawl into the operation theatre…

I don’t quite understand…

…why so many people are wearing face masks?
…why everything seems so slow during fasting month?
…why everyone seems to be washing their hands more often?
…why I need to be buckled up inside the car?
…why Papa is so fanatical over football?
…why my clothes need to be washed separately from me. Can’t they be washed together with me as I take my bath?
…why some hymns are sung standing and some seated in church?
…why Malaysian politics is not categorized under Cartoon Network?
Perhaps I will understand more when I grow up and my mind expands a little bit more. But, all I need to know today is that God cares for me and He’s in complete control over all those things that I totally do not understand.
