Grand Times with Grandpas

GRAND

Adjective: Impressive in size, appearance, or general effect; stately, majestic, or dignified; highly ambitious or idealistic; magnificent or splendid; noble or revered (source: Dictionary.com)

Ever since I looked up on the meaning of GRAND, I am beginning to understand how cool our Grandpas really are. I can’t help but notice very striking similarities between both Ah Kong (Papa’s side) and Ah Koong (Mama’s side).

For example, both of them…

- are generally camera shy

- prefers oriental food

- are calm and steady

- don’t like pizzas..

- very good around kids like Caitlynn and myself! Hee

Yeah, although both our grandpas are seemingly on the reserved side, they have this mysterious attraction that is always very entertaining and fun for us kids.

So, in photo form, here are some recent (and exclusive) photos of our grand times with our grandpas!

Sleep Sulking

Should I sleep or should I sulk? I really do not know

But when I am scolded, there is somewhere that I usually go

To the bed I jump as it’s the only place

Where I can easily bury my face!

Tis an excellent place to sulk without anyone to see

The tears and face that is so gloomy

No one can also hear my sniffing and sobbing

From afar, it really looks like I’m only sleeping!

But I think Papa and Mama now already know

That I’m just putting on a show

So they would just leave me there alone

Till all my sulking and crying is done

But sometimes if I’m too tired whilst sulking

And with the comfiness of the bed so appealing

I might just doze off to sleep very quickly

And forget my sulkings temporarily…hee!

My First Blog

I'm No. 3!

Gosh! It has just been two weeks after I came into the world and I’m tasked forced joyfully asked to BLOG!!! Sigh…is that what is expected of babies of this generation?! :-O

So, what do I write into my first ever blog? After getting some advice from Koko Collin and Jiejie Caitlynn (both of whom seem happier that they now have more time to play then blog..), I think I will simply begin by introducing myself…

…which actually, all the info and updates can be obtained from my profile page herehttp://playfulpups.ourdogkennel.com/caleb/

With my full name being Caleb Cheah Yi Shen, if I were to translate the meaning of my Christian name and all the Chinese characters, I would actually be a whole-heartedly faithful, devoted, determined, firmly resolute gentleman…or dog for that matter. Sigh. You see, Papa seems to have this fascination with dogs…heck, even our family blog site is a KENNEL! :-P

Anyway, unlike Koko and Jiejie, the name Caleb is apparently symbolised with a DOG, following Caleb (of the Bible)’s devotion to God. No wonder Papa seems very pleased and happy with my choice of name. Hee!

I know it may be quite difficult for some of you to pronounce my name, so in order to help you, let me share how it is supposed to be pronounced…KAY-leb

…and how it shouldn’t be pronounced:

- Club

- Kai-lap

- Scallop

…and NO, it is NOT short for “Call me, Beb!” either…

At 53cm, I’m the longest of Papa and Mama’s pups (to-date!). With Koko Collin and Jiejie Caitlynn measuring in at 51cm and 52cm respectively, it looks like a trend for Mama’s children to grow longer and longer!

Just like Koko Collin, I also have HAIR! Quite happy because I know Mama likes babies with hair…hehe! Compared to Koko Collin and Jiejie Caitlynn, I’m probably also the darkest skin of the lot…

…so to sum it up of how I would describe myself in three words?

Tall, Dark and Hairy

Psst….hope to add Handsome to the list in the near future! :-D

Funny Face Friday!

Ways to make Papa Happy #14

After playing with toys, keep them all nicely and leave the room hall and floor completely clean and tidy. At the front of the kept toys, simply place a Man Utd card/plaque beside the toys.

Sure work one! :-D

Prune Princess

Have you ever encountered any type of food that you just seriously love but the taste makes you cringe so much that you love it more? Yeah, something like a love-hate relationship…

The Difference Between Boys and Girls #45

When the camera is locked, focused and the girls are asked to SMILE…

…and when boys are asked to smile…

The Lord’s Prayer

After my Sunday School classes ended last year, I sorta grew tired refreshing myself with the previous memory verses…so Papa and Mama decided that it would be a good time to teach me to memorise the Lord’s Prayer….which was kinda exciting because I hear the entire church reciting it every week. :-)

So after weeks and weeks of reciting and memorising the Prayer chunk by chunk, I am proud to say that I can now confidently pray our Lord’s Prayer out loud!

About three Sundays ago, I fully participated and joined in the church in praying this family prayer together…and boy, did I feel on top of the world! :-D

Here’s my chunk by chunk version of The Lord’s Prayer, with my personal notes in parenthesis…especially for those tougher chunks..) followed by the audio recording of my recital!

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father

Who art in Heaven

Hallowed be Thy Name (just like Paul Baloche’s song Your Name…)

Thy Kingdom come

Thy will be done on earth

As it is in Heaven

Give us this day our daily bread (I like bread)

And forgive us our trespasses (like sin – bad things, wrong things)

As we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation (attractive things that make us want to do wrong things)

But deliver us from evil (bad, bad things)

For Thine is the kingdom

And the power (like His power at work in us can do far more than we dare ask or imagine…memory verse from Ephesians 3 verse 20)

And the glory

Forever and ever

Amen.
