Yawn of the Day!

"Time to sleep...again.."

A weekend of many firsts…

Some may call it an exciting, action-packed weekend. I prefer to call it a milestone weekend of many firsts.

Last weekend as my first weekend in KL after spending much of my two- months being confined with Mama in Ah Por and Ah Koong’s house in Sitiawan. So I was rather excited to see what usually happens on KL weekends. As it turns out, last weekend, I experienced many things for the very first time. Wee!

It was my first time out SHOPPING! It was kinda funny. We went through a lot of car traffic jams leading into the shopping mall, and experienced human traffic jams inside! Not sure if I thoroughly enjoyed it, but am looking out for future experiences before deciding if I like it or not. Koko Collin certainly seems to enjoy sitting on the huge steel trolley though. Hmmmm.

It was my first visit to CHURCH! Many uncles and (especially) aunties keep coming up to have a (really) close look at me. I would have half thought all of them needed glasses or something. Anyway, it was pretty exciting and also noisy in the baby room with other older kids. Certainly welcomed the air-cond with the burning heat outdoors. Hee!

It was my first FOOTBALL match with Papa! Finally got to see what the fuss this sport was all about. Koko Collin only managed to see one goal before he went off to bed whilst I stayed around and watched three more goals as this almost-bald guy from Papa’s team scored four goals past the other team called Hull.

Really tired after all those activities. Time again for my beauty sleep…and that’s definitely not a first.. :-p

Sleepstanding

My mastery of the art called sleeping has recently scaled new levels.

Not only am I able to sleep just about anywhere in any position lying down, I am now also able to sleep while standing! Yeah, I know it sounds freaky but it’s true. OK, maybe I needed a little help from the sofa, but it’s still no easy task!

Months of practicing this stance has finally paid off. Hee! Now, on to practicing doing it with my eyes open. Bet that’ll be a challenge.

I wonder if MeiMei Caitlynn is interested to learn this useful art. Hmmm.

Recalling my day of birth…

It’s my second moon celebration today, so as I reclined on my bouncing net (what else can I do?!), I started to recall what happened two moons ago…

I know Koko Collin gave a general report and public announcement about my arrival, but I guess my story wouldn’t be complete with me chronicling the finer details of what really happened on 26 Nov 2009…

I am what doctors would call a full-term baby, having obediently and patiently stayed inside Mama’s womb past the 40-week mark. On 22 Nov, the doc said if I still didn’t come out by the coming Thursday, Mama would be induced. Not sure what that word means but I felt Mama cringe everytime it was mentioned.

On 26 Nov, I felt hurried movements as Papa and Mama left the house very early in the morning to drop off Koko Collin at Mrs D’s house before taking me straight to the hospital. Probably there was less traffic in the morning.

Anyway, by8.15am, I could feel that Mama was already on the hospital bed. Only problem was that I was not ready to come out! About an hour later, the nurses inserted some stuff into Mama. Dunno if this is inducing or not, but I still felt OK inside.

Mama in good spirits and reading Marley & Me!

About another hour later, we all heard some woman screaming from the next room. She was the only other mother-to-be in the same ward that morning. It sounded scary, but all was good about 20 minutes later when the soothing cries of a baby was heard.

Around noon, the nurses started to insert some type of liquid into Mama. I wonder if this is inducing? Anyway, I could feel Mama starting to feel some pain. The doc also came in and said should be another few hours to wait. Papa quickly left at this point for a quick lunch as he sure didn’t want to miss his baby girl in action. Hee!

The pain became more apparent after 3.00pm and I also felt like coming out already. Our doc calmly walked in around 3.30pm and got Mama to position herself for my arrival. I lost track of time when the doc did a check and told Mama to push when she’s feels it.

...and I'm out! Hello World!

After one push, my head was already visible and ready to come out. Doc motioned for Mama to relax and allow me to sorta slide out on my own. Mama assisted by giving a slight second push and I was out!…The entire process was so fast…perhaps that’s why doctors seem to call it SVD - Speedy Version Delivery? I was crying too. Sigh. Thought I could hold back the tears. :-p

The doc's PCK boots...

After all the necessary clean-ups, weighings and measurings, we were all ushered off to to another ward where there was a nursery and stuff. There were two other babies in the nursery that day (both boys) and I was still the longest. Hee!

And there ends my tale of what happened that day. Sure, it’s no Hollywood drama but I’m glad I came out safely, Mama is OK and Papa….erm, even had time for lunch…

We are family!...

Resourceful Rat

There are times when desperation calls.

When the want becomes the need.

When the thirst becomes dehydration.

When there’s no one to help.

All alone. All desperate.

That’s when resourcefulness takes over.

When I look for hope.

For a means. For an answer.

For a way.

To resolve desperation.

To meet the need.

To quench the drought.

So I push. And I climb. And I stretch.

And I stretch.

And I stretch.

For my goal…

O Medicine!

Family Foto Friday!

Parroty Pic!

I have always found birds to be interesting animals. They always seem so happy and free up there in the sky – flying without boundaries, without worries.

And then I started to wonder…they are always so far away that I don’t really know what they look like! Come to think of it, the closest similarity I can remember are those chickens in Ah Por’s house – and they don’t even fly!

So I was really excited when we were at this shopping mall quite some time back where the national zoo brought some animals to promote the zoo. I reckon business must be bad, huh?

Anyway, I had this chance to take a picture up close with a parrot. Finally – up close and personal with one of these feathered friends. Hmmm…not sure if it can fly or not. Hee!

"Hello, Polly!"

Mirror Mystery

Mirror, mirror on the wall, which Collin is the cheekiest of them all?

I was really intrigued with these changing rooms in the clothes mall where mirrors cover their every side. Wouldn’t all these images of their own self confuse them when they try on the clothes? Adults sure can be strange sometimes.

I mean, if mirrors are so important when they are trying on something, shouldn’t they have mirrors in ALL restaurants where people try food for the first time? Or line up bookstores will mirrors where people are browsing for books? Ah well…

Mirror, mirror, why are you always a mystery? When all I can ever see in you is me?

The Tallest and Longest

I am certainly proud of my name! With my birth and given name, I have officially written myself into our family record books as having the LONGEST name in the family. Hehe!

Of course, Papa and Mama’s strange obsession with double letterings helped my cause too, but I kinda liked the fact that I have double Ns at the end of ‘Caitlynn’ as it makes my name look more special. ;-)

Apart from that, I’m also happy that I’m also taller than Koko Collin at birth, and looking at how fast he’s shooting up, I am probably on track to be the TALLEST too. Hehe.

Keep your browser locked here to check on my growth updates OK?

Now, I wonder if I would be the noisiest too? Hmmm.

Burps of Goodness

Koko Collin was right! Mama’s goodness is exactly what it is…. GOOD!!

It is so good sometimes I dunno how to stop asking for it. Hehe. Sorry Mama..

So more often than not, every feed of goodness will be followed by some burping where either air or vomits of goodness will come out.

It can be quite gross at times when they put me lying down on that bouncing holey net thingy. In a blink of an eye, vomits of goodness would trickle through the holes onto the floor. I think I’ve lost count how many times Ah Por has mopped the floor! Hee! Thanks Ah Por!

Anyway, all I know is it will never be a case of too much of a good(ness) thing!

Psst…I’m pretty sure Koko Collin misses Mama’s goodness…hehe…shhhhhh.
